AWESOME! I am definitely going to be playing in this! Awesome poster! "No Whimps No Whiners"! hahaha
I do have a little question though, how difficult is it to find your disc when there is more than a few inches of snow on the ground? This question is based out of inexperience, and is NOT of the smart A$$ variety! :D |
It depends on how fluffy the snow is. If the snow is hard packed, you almost always get skips off the ground. If it's fluffy, you can combat disc disappearance by either A.) Attaching small glow sticks to the bottom of your disc so they stick out or B.) Attaching some ribbon on the bottom of the disc so you can follow the ribbon to the disc in question. They are not fail safe methods though. Discs do disappear quite easily in the winter time. Best to use discs that you either don't care about or are absolutely sure that you can find.

Unlike the Ace Race, at the Ice Bowl you will need to pay your entry fee to reserve your spot. You may take a chance that there is a spot left and enter the Ace Pot and buy Mulligans on the day of the event.:yay: |
So do you need me to bring you food at the time I bring you cash?

Course Clean-Up!
JUST A REMINDER!
The SCC Disc Golf Club will be on site Today at 1:00pm for course cleanup. If you want to stop by and meet the team and coach -- and lend a hand with course clean-up that would be great. Looking forward to seeing you all there!!! Mac |
Gotta love the whole global warming thing. I bet those Ice Bowl discs will be worth a ton of money down the road. :-)

Well the Weather Man had one of his 50% wrong days yesterday while the 2013 Spokane Ice Bowl took place. While the temperatures approached 40 F there was no sun to be seen. Just the gray of low clouds, just short of fog.
This however did not dampen the spirits of the 90 competitors and 6 staff, nor their capacity to give. The food will be taken to the food bank and weighed on Monday and as soon as I find out the weight I will report that right here. Cash Donations to the Food Bank were;
Thanks to all the players that came out and made this donation possible. And special thanks to the sponsors of this years Ice Bowl.

AWESOME DAY ON THE COURSE!
Thanks to all that worked on this -- Logan (the 12 year old Jr) took 1st place and had a fantastic b-day! Special thanks to Laura and Shawna for playing with the Jr's!!! Looking forward to spending another birthday with my son and all of you next year!! Mac |
Heck yeah, Thanks Bob for putting on a STELLAR event!
Looking forward to warm weather and more tourneys!!! |
Food For Thought
There's a lot of hungry people here in eastern Wa. and northern Idaho who have you all to thank for the 727 pounds of food that the 2nd Harvest food bank received on Monday. Also, the SDGA presented a check for $1633.00 to the Food Bank to go toward bulk food purchases and keeping their operation in high gear......This makes 10 years running for the Spokane 'Chili' Ice Bowl kickin down to 2nd Harvest at an annual average of about $1700.00 and 800 pounds of food. Your ongoing generosity makes our region a better place for all. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Your SDGA and INWS Crew.:yay: |
